Hamburg, Rome and Buenos Aires!

October 20, 2009 by hotelsinbruges

In what follows, let me introduce you to my experience with three beautiful cities I’ve visited in the past year, two of them were in Europe, one of them in South America: Hamburg, Rome and Buenos Aires.

hamburg'

Staying in one of the best hotels in Hamburg was really an experience. I had on hand for an overly high expectations of the German Hanseatic city, but I must admit that I am now one of the nicest cities in North Western Europe do. The Town Hall Square, Hamburger Rathuismarkt, the Open-Air Cinema, the Inner Alster, etc.. From my Hamburg hotel I could easily the nicest places in the city discovered. In terms of shopping (my girlfriend had come for a few days) Hamburg certainly do not have to take cities like London or Paris. Just before we were checking out of our hotel Hamburg we did have a nice cruise through the Alsterkanäle, which seem a bit on the Amsterdam canals. Super Cute city trip had there, I will certainly come back!

buenosaires'

Buenos Aires is lyrically described by many as “the Paris of South America” and who have more than right! The city is dotted with impressive with (urban) palaces, wide boulevards, large squares, neo-classical architecture surrounded by thousands of bars and restaurants! Our Hotel Buenos Aires was in the middle of the city its ancient history, everywhere we could hear the sound of the tango, the direction that our old people and neighborhoods Boedo Nueva Pompeya lured. The lady at the reception of our hotel hotel Buenos Aires taught us all a nice example of this famous dance, so graceful, I have rarely seen. Also one evening we went towards the Teatro Colón (about the symbol of the city) where we continue our cultural baggage aandikten. Buenos Aires tickled our senses during that short week that we stayed there, so we also regret the heart goodbye to our Buenos Aires hotel.

rome'

Barely two weeks after returning home from the Argentine capital, I went again towards the Italian capital, the city of the Colosseum, the city that was once the center of an empire, the city on the Tiber: Rome! Of all hotels Rome I think we had chosen the most charming, had really so cute hottelletje rarely seen. Small but super nice in the middle of the old town, a stone’s throw from all that was attractive and interesting to visit. A city trip to Rome is usually really mainly of two parts. On one side of the Tiber is in Rome, on the other side you will find at Vatican City, the papal state within a country. Toppers as the St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and Vatican museums attract millions of rich people a year, like the Colosseum also on the other side. From our Rome hotel we had also nice view, ‘which is beautifully illuminated at night, a real spectacle of masks! At the Spanish Steps we could fully enjoy the lively bustle, the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona we did, and then tired but in our bed in our Hotel in Rome dreaming about all the wonderful things we had seen that day. Mmmm … City trips, I just can not get enough of it!

Last night, I stayed in an absolutely astonishing hotel in Paris, I met this wonderful french girl who showed me around a bit in the City of Lights. We went to all the best places and had a great diner together.

Sad but true: I had to leave again, to hop on the train that would take me to my hotel in Amsterdam… To be continued!

Hotels in Bergen, Holland

You love the sea and would like to have a weekend off? Then like me, I have just come back from a memorable Easter weekend in a hotel in Bergen, I amazed at my sense have been completely alone, but it certainly be repeated! Bergen aan Zee is a bustling seaside resort with a nice boulevard. There are many restaurants, accommodations and a sea aquarium.

During a holiday, short or long, in one of the hotels in Bergen you You therefore impossible bored or high or not. Of course it is especially busy in summer and cozy, with a series of bathers from home and foreign. There is everything for everyone and there are many nice restaurants.

bergen3

But even if you had enough of the hustle and bustle, it is nice for a hotel Bergen stay. Indeed, the village is enclosed by the thousands of hectares large Kennemerduinen many miles you can wander around without someone having to come from. If you like nature, a stay in a Bergen hotel therefore absolutely appropriate!

Bergen aan Zee is located west of Bergen itself and, as the name suggests, is located directly on the sea and surrounded by woods and in the North Holland Dune Reserve Bergen aan Zee. Villas, houses, hotels Bergen and apartments are built in dune slacks or the dune tops. The views speak to the imagination, looking across the North Sea dream your way.

Holiday in a hotel in the Ardennes

ardennen2

Whoever thinks of the Ardennes, will certainly images of nature, culture, sport and gastronomy of the spirit out. The vast landscapes and almost endless forests, many bike and walking trails and picturesque villages where time has stood still, send the Ardennes hotels her for the rest looking very attractive character. Not so far from the door, yet miles away from the busy life and lack of peace and nature in Flanders.
Staying in a hotel in the Ardennes is equivalent to a pure holiday surrounded by nature, where you draft full of peace and freedom and can enjoy during your stay you live in a gezapiger, healthier pace. It’s actually hard to believe that a region which, strictly speaking, not very large, so many wonderful things to offer. Impenetrable forests, splashing rivers, romantic ruins, baroque rock formations and lovely rolling landscapes that even a black viewer deliver a lyrical mood. And then there are the little known or unsuspected treasures, hidden in a grandiose nature, in a village or soezend … in the kitchen of a delightful restaurant. Many filtering is often a delightful weekend in a hotel Ardennes !

ardennen

The Ardennes hotels bring the guests all year round, summer or winter , there is always something to experience and enjoy it is blown.
The Ardennes

characterized by a very special diversity: Stay in the far south in an Arlon hotel, for example, in the beautiful Auberge du Val d ‘Attert is a very different experience than staying in a hotel Durbuy, a Spa-Francorchamps hotel or a hotel La Roche.

I stayed there once and in the Hotel La Calèche, hotel Francorchamps Le Roannay, and Hotel Le Luxembourg La Provence, all gems of Ardennes hotels. Those Durbuy hotel guest can enjoy the self-proclaimed smallest city in the world and a beautiful and inspiring surroundings, who opts for a hotel La Roche, you are placed in the absolute epicenter of the Bulge and one of the most visited villages, who act in an Spa-Francorchamps hotel to continue, can many attractions to enjoy: nature, culture and of course the world famous race course.

I prefer to stay in a Durbuy hotel over a hotel La Roche or Arlon hotel the Ardennes because I find it enjoyable. In a Arlon hotel you are strictly speaking no longer in the Ardennes, but the majority of the population called soon everything down the language ‘Ardennes’.

Staying in a hotel in Brussels

brussel4

Actually I have been a year or 10, 15 the world to wander, looking for nice places to stay, fascinating landscapes, intriguing people, interesting stories, etc. .. Never thought I as close to home in a whole other world could reach. Am just back from a stay of 5 days in a hotel Brussels, at the invitation of a Belgian company specializing in group. I had never longer than a night in a hotel in Brussels about it, and I honestly thought that the Belgian and European capital, I would soon get bored.

Nothing was less true! The city on the Senne has a lot to offer, what type of visitor you hear. If you like historic inner cities, charming winding streets, numerous museums, parks refreshing, delicious restaurants, trendy bars and terraces and all modern shops, then Brussels is definitely something for you! From Brussels hotel are you so you should be! Brussels is perhaps a world (at least through its role as bearer of the European institutions), so great is they is not. Cosmopolitan, yes, but always on a human scale, and in typical Brussels feel! Manneken Pis and the Atomium I decided to skip. I showed it to the hordes of Japanese tourists, I had them a time or two too much light. No, it was me to do to the more hidden features in the city.

The desk clerk in my Brussels hotel pointed me out that much to do in Brussels, which at first sight would not suspect. The where I stayed was the Welness Hotel, just in the center at the Botanical Gardens and a stone’s throw from the best places. There are not as many crazy hotels in Brussels which I immediately returned, but this is certainly still there: it had its own fitness and health center where I could enjoy the sauna, relaxation area and traditional hammam. In the vicinity there was also a large variety of restaurants, museums and cinemas to find…

brussel5

Brussels is very nice but far from the only city in Belgium or the Netherlands that is worth it! Absolute topfavoriet what I am concerned, is still a stay at a hotel Brugge, shortly followed by a hotel Antwerp. I still really doubt between these two cities, they have many common but are still so different. Both speak to different parts of my personality to, so I find it so difficult to choose. Bruges is full of historical heritage and drags you on a fascinating journey through the Middle Ages, while Antwerp quickly its avant-garde shows heart. Historical or contemporary? I am still not. The combination of the two then he! Bruges for the historical feel, Antwerp for its dynamic nature and buzzing …

In the summer I do not flee the territory and even fresh air to happen. Usually, this to me accompanied by a stay of a few days in a hotel Oostende.

Visit Bruges

October 28, 2008 by hotelsinbruges

Bruges, a city worth ten visits.

A visit to Bruges will be memorable and certainly be one of the best citytrips you will ever have. This city will always be attractive to spend some nights.

To visit Bruges is to return in time. This city was born during the middle ages due to its connection to the sea. The famous “Zwin” can still be visited in Knokke. ( now a bird reserve ). During the ages the “Zwin” became less and less accessible untill a point where furhter travel was simply impossible, what in other means ment the decay of this world trade center during the middle ages. Everything in this city still reminds to this beautiful time in history. Some places in Bruges are absolutely must do’s when you’re walking through this beautiful city. Here you find some of the places to visit during your stay in Bruges.

  • Put your climbing shoes on and visit the mediaval belfry. It is quite a climb but the view from the upper belltower is magnificent and really makes it worth the climb
  • 200m away from the belfry you find the Basilic of the Holy Blood, where a relic of Christ’s blood is held. This old roman church is the oldest church in Bruges and most beautiful.
  • A boat tour along the medieval canals shows you Bruges in a whole different light and let yourself be enchanted by times past.
  • Horse and carriage are still ‘in’ in Bruges, it is really a relaxing way of exploring Bruges.

Reachability:

Bruges lies in the flemish part of Belgium, on about 80km from our European Capital, Brussels, Antwerp is some 75km away, the closest big city is Ghent, only half an hour drive.

Many tourist choose a hotel in Brussels as base to visit Belgium, which is a tactical error. Hotels in Brussels can not tip at the charming environment of the different family hotels in Bruges. Hotels in Antwerp are absolutely out of the question because Antwerp has nothing to offer in comparison to Brussels or Bruges. If all hotels in Bruges are full, i would recommend if you like to sleep quietly to look for a hotel in Oostende or a hotel in Knokke-Heist, at the coast because this is far closer to Bruges than other cities and your staying at the seaside.

The hugh choice of hotels in Bruges makes a swift choice of a hotel to your liking difficult. Bruges offers everything from small familyhotels till big luxurious hotels in Bruges with all possible comfort . We have selected a few of the hotels in Bruges where you could stay during your visit of Bruges. They offer the best price/quality accomodation in Bruges . Most hotels in Bruges can be booked online which makes it very easy to find a good hotel.

Dinner in Bruges:

If you would like to dine exclusively there is one address I would recommend as we have had a terrific dinner over there and that is restaurant Aneth. just a 10 min walk from the main square but definitely worth it. There are numerous restaurants in Bruges so a choice for a nice dinner is not that easy. Here are few examples of good and nice places to eat.

Visit closeby Bruges:

From your hotel in Bruges you can easily visit the coastal region of Belgium with cities like Ostend and Knokke-Heist. The Belgian coast can be a beautiful intermezzo of your visits to the musea. A bikeride of 1h-1.30h will take you easily to the coast along beautiful canals and the ‘Polders’.

If you choose to stay in Bruges it can be very interesting to take the train for one day to Brussels and perhaps 1 day to Antwerp.
Both cities are reached in about 1h travel time which makes it quite doable.

Have fun in Bruges and don’t buy to many touristic presents.
